It is disgraceful that Hove Museum will be closed for more than a year simply to install a lift and adjust the floors.

Had my late husband's firm taken so long over such work we would have been living on sardines. Such a closure - at a time when other museums are out of action - suggests incompetence and makes one fear that perhaps this is a ploy to create a fun museum out of a quiet, pleasant provincial building which offers a haven in its admirable tearoom.

My ladies and I enjoy nothing more than to gather there, exchange news and get leaflets ready for delivery.
