Rehearsals for a school play turned into a right old drama when stage effects sparked a fire alert.

Pupils at Brighton and Hove High School, in Montpelier Road, Brighton, had to be evacuated yesterday lunchtime when the alarms went off as pupils rehearsed Peer Gynt.

The fire brigade was quickly on the scene - only to discover the alarms had been set off accidentally by a stage smoke machine.
