I agree with the correspondent who deplores the fact that Bill Reynells' contract is not to be renewed and have written complaining to his base station in Oxford, as well as Guildford.

They have replied with the usual eyewash about 'refreshing their output' but saying he will be presenting the Saturday late night programme which is some small comfort I suppose.

Apart from personality the main advantage with Bill is that he shares many of the experiences of older listeners and understands what people are talking about without the explanations necessary when speaking to younger people.

I wonder if the powers that be were jealous of his popularity and the fact that he gave the often silent, or silenced, majority a chance to air their views - sometimes not quite politically correct but still valid opinions sincerely held?
