A Sussex man who made his name working for corporate giants has created an online database which organisers hope will change the face of club culture.

East Grinstead-based Dale Bulbrook has used know-how he picked up creating intranets for American Express and Reuters to build the Worldwide Dance Web.

The site, which was launched last week, lets club owners put their own dance dates directly onto the net.

Information sent to the site is automatically stored for use by clubbers nationwide.

Clubbers can enter their postcodes and the site will list club nights near them.

They can listen to MP3 samples of DJ mixes and buy them online. Major clubs are expected to sign up to feature their nights on the site.

The website has been designed by Motion Path, a web design firm based in Maresfield, near Uckfield.

Mr Bulbrook created the site database with his firm WebDesign.

He said the technology is similar to that used by giant firms. "It's what would be considered as standard in the corporate world but in web design it's fairly new."

Robin Sherwood, a director of Worldwide Dance Web, said: "I think we'll establish ourselves as a brand leader.

"Then we can start charging for the service."
