BRIGHTON band The Levellers have re-scheduled their cancelled home-town concert for February 13.

An estimated 4,000 fans of the folk band were turned away from the Brighton Centre on Friday when fiddler John Sevink collapsed backstage.

The disappointed fans, some of whom had come from France and Norway for the gig, received the news just one hour before the concert was due to begin.

Manager Phil Nelson said the band were devastated to cancel the sell-out concert, The Levellers' first home gig for three years, and promised to play a one-off show in the New Year.

And yesterday, the band confirmed they would be returning to the Brighton Centre on February 13.

Tickets for the cancelled concert will be valid for the new date, and The Levellers will be supported by The Fish Brothers and Audioweb.

Wendy Walton, marketing manager for the centre, said: "The tickets are still valid but anyone who cannot make the new date will be offered a refund up to February 13."
