VETERAN film director Lord Attenborough has quit the board of Brighton West Pier Trust because of pressure of work.
So has Lord Briggs, former vice chancellor of Sussex University, who lives in Lewes.
Both men are taking up honorary positions with the trust, which hopes to start full restoration work later this year.
Their places were taken at the trust's annual meeting by local councillor Nimrod Ping and by surveyor Richard Jenkins. All other board members were re-elected.
