The world's first "no frills" long-haul airline has bought two 17-year-old jumbo jets.

Oasis Hong Kong Airlines plans to launch in late September with a maiden flight from Hong Kong to Gatwick and will offer single fares starting at £73 for passengers booking early.

The firm has invested £62,746,000 in two old Boeing 747-400s, which used to belong to Singapore Airlines.

The same aircraft would cost £276,083,060 if they were new.

The firm had previously planned to launch in December 2005 but its lease agreement on two former United Airlines jumbo jets fell through.
