Albion's kids showed they had resilience as well as talent at Worthing last night.

A young Reserve side came from behind to beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 with second-half goals by strike pair Sam Gargan and Joe Gatting.

The fledgling Seagulls fell behind to a 20th-minute penalty by Charlie Griffin after Tommy Fraser had clipped Wycombe forward Andy Savage inside the box.

Albion stepped up their performance after the break and Gargan, making his full debut for the Reserves, levelled in the 55th minute.

The tall first-year scholar met a cross from Doug Loft with a downward header at the far post.

It looked as if Dean White's side would have to settle for a draw when Gary Elphick and Loft had efforts cleared off the line and Sam Rents had a close-range header kept out by Wycombe keeper Steven Williams.

But Gatting secured the points in clinical manner eight minutes from time, controlling and turning on another cross from Loft in one movement to fire home from six yards.

Albion Reserves: Sullivan; May, Cobbs, Fraser, Elphick, Carey, Cox, Rents, Gatting, Gargan, Loft. Subs: Chamberlain, Winterton, P. Hinshelwood.
