How hard is it to get a job in Brighton? Believe you me, it is very hard.

My daughter has completed her qualification in nursery care. She has had a couple of jobs but they haven't worked out.

She wants to go into retail but how do you get into this line of work if no one will give you a chance with no shop experience?

My daughter is just a typical, run-of-the-mill kid with a great personality and is willing to learn. You would not believe how many large stores she has sent CVs to. She is now sending them to any size shop in the hope someone will give her a chance.

In total, she has sent 26, with a further 14 to be posted this week. She has only ever had one reply, which said the shop was not recruiting. She is 18 years old and is desperate to work.

Brighton has city status now and still she can't find work.

No one will give these kids a chance. As a mother, I find this so frustrating as it affects not only her but also does the rest of the family.

She waits for the phone to ring or the postman to post something through the letterbox for her in the hope it may be a job offer.

She is so depressed, as all her friends are working and she isn't. I'm sure I'm not the only mother in this position but it makes me so angry.
