It's a concern to read that not enough lollipop staff can be found to help ensure the safety of our children outside some of our schools.

The people who do this job would be near the top of my list when the MBEs are given out. It occurs to me there must be many people on long-term benefits living locally who could spend a couple of hours a day doing this important job, even if they job-shared.

It's a little saddening to think there are plenty of people happy to sit back year after year taking all they can, yet contribute nothing back to society.
