Were every mad musician in Brighton genetically modified into one indestructible act, the result would probably look something like Lorraine Bowen.
A titan of ingenious eccentricity, Bowen has toured as Billy Bragg's pianist, had a top six record in Japan and become a television, radio and fringe festival cult.
Brandishing a battered organ on an ironing board, "The Queen of Casio" delights audiences worldwide with singalong choruses about a range of subject matter as varied as her costume changes during performances.
The three albums she has recorded since 1995 have enticed record companies in Spain and Italy to release anthologies of her work.
"Mary Poppins on acid" was one reviewer's attempt to capture Bowen's sensual brilliance but singles such as Fun To Be A Fish and The Supermarket Song show words alone can do little justice to the Experience itself.
Until Fri, May 5, then Wed-Fri until May 26. Starts at 10pm, tickets cost £6 and £5. Call 01273 322006
