Sussex face a Test-quality attack in the Championship match against Yorkshire which starts at Headingley today.
England's Matthew Hoggard plays his first game of the season after resting following his return from the tour of India earlier this month.
Hoggard is preparing for next week's first Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's.
His new ball partner will be Australian Jason Gillespie who will make his first Championship appearance for Yorkshire at home.
Between them the pair have taken 456 Test wickets.
Former England seamer James Kirtley and England tourist Matt Prior will make their first Championship appearances of the season for Sussex.
Both players played in the C&G Trophy against Middlesex on Monday and Prior is set to resume as wicketkeeper in place of Andrew Hodd in the Championship side.
