Until recently, you could walk along the seafront in Hove and enjoy unobstructed views of the sea.

All the signage about dogs, barbecues and so on was kept below waist height. That was thoughtful. Now, someone who has never enjoyed a walk by the sea has decided we need in-your-face hoardings and three have already gone up, with nannying messages for every eventuality.

They should be taken down.

If we must have all this information thrust at us, then a sign at low level is still readable if it is tilted, as many seaside resorts have realised over the years.
