A teenager has been raped on Brighton beach.

The 18-year-old was attacked at about 4.35am yesterday (Sun) by a man she had met in a nightclub.

The woman, had met the man in a King's Road Arches club - which police have not named.

She was walking with him east away from the Palace Pier when he dragged her onto the beach and raped her.

Police said she was able to scream and he ran off.

The suspect was white, aged between 19 and 21, 5ft 9in, thin or medium build, clean-shaven with dark spiky hair which was shorter at the sides.

He was wearing a blue, short sleeved polo shirt, dark blue jeans and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant David Osland said: "Attacks of this nature are rare but I would like to remind women to take personal safety advice and be vigilant when walking alone, especially at night.

"For your own safety, ensure you never find yourself alone with a stranger."
