New MP for Brighton Kemptown, Simon Kirby, took the floor of a disorganized presentation to state very clearly that he would oppose any development of Saltdean Lido involving the building of flats.
To rousing applause he clearly voiced the mood of the audience and put a lid on the property development aspirations of Dennis Audley, the current owner of the lease on Saltdean Lido.
It was a coherent, polished and inspirational end to what was a rambling, badly managed and often fractious meeting. Rather than trying to win hearts and minds, Dennis Audley decided to upset people with offhand comments, and then went into minute details about the problems of running the building and his disputes with the council and the Saltdean Community Association.
Saltdean waits with anticipation to see how Dennis Audley will respond to this resounding blow.
