A 24-year-old man was cut on the face in a knifepoint robbery in Kemp Town, Brighton, early on Saturday morning.

The man had left Komedia in Gardner Street at about 12.30am.

As he walked along St George's Road in Kemp Town, he realised someone was following him.

He turned into a small alley in Chesham Road, where he was confronted by a man with a knife.

He suffered a two-inch cut to his cheek, just below his left eye.

The suspect took his phone and demanded cash but ran off when the victim showed him an empty wallet.

The robber was described as Asian or possibly black, aged between 25 and 30, medium build, with a southern accent.

He wore a black beanie hat, possibly Adidas, and a hooded top.

The victim was white, with a full beard and was wearing a red and blue tartan shirt.

Anyone who saw the robbery or saw the men in St George's Road before the attack is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999, quoting serial 150 of May 22.
