The winner of this year’s Miss Brighton and Hove is a beauty queen with a twist – and a spin and a kick.

Drop kick gorgeous martial arts fan Annabel Bolton floored her opponents to claim the coveted sash and will now go on and represent the city in the fight to become Miss Great Britain.

After three years without a pageant, the 19-year-old purple belt kickboxer with knockout looks was the last girl standing after three rounds at the beauty contest in Oceana nightclub in West Street, Brighton.

Annabel said: “I was over the moon, I didn’t expect to win.

“I was so happy I had made it through to the top seven so when they called my name out as the winner I was so shocked.”

It was Annabel’s second beauty contest having finished highly in Miss British Isles last year.

She has been modelling since she was 16 works two days a week with the clothes store Abercrombie and Fitch in London.

Recently she’s done a couple of magazine shoots including one for women’s fashion and gossip weekly Grazia.

The teenager from Crowborough said although she doesn’t intend to stop fighting after becoming Miss Brighton.

She added: “I got into kickboxing about a year ago.

“I do it for fitness, it’s better than going to the gym.

“I’m halfway to a black belt and to get that would be great.

“If I have a shoot the next day then I won’t go training, it wouldn’t look good if I turned up with a black eye, but I don’t do that much contact fighting.”
