I cycled past this mess at around 7.45am and the police and ambulance were already on the scene. The big black metal bins were sqaushed flat. Judgeing by the damage to the car and the bins they must have been speeding at a hell of a rate. Also that section is for buses and taxis only so should not have even been there. Feel very sorry for the poor chap who was in wrong place at wrong time, hope he makes a full and speedy recovery

Surely every inch of Western Road is covered by cameras? Hope they catch him, lucky not to have killed someone.

The bins were really squashed up - like Spanners said it must've been going at quite a speed. Really hope they find the occupants of the car - hit and run is such a cowardly thing to do. Hope the pedestrian gets well soon.

Sadly the cameras probably weren't facing the right direction.. or are out of action..

@dixie Yeah makes a change for people to be caught..

So will they get charged, probably a 80£ and 6 points. Even though it could be classed as GBH, ABH, causing injury with a vehicle.

Only time will tell.

let's face it, you wouldn't run away if you had nothing to hide, would you. glad they have caught the 2 idiots, and i hope the pedestrian is ok. these 2 morons should be made an example of, and locked up for a long time.

Can't lock them up or they'll claim loss of Human rights like Ian Huntley.

Very true, after all it seems you can break the law with impunity in Brighton. Smash edo, Naked bike ride, Lewes road community squatters and so on...

Surely it's time we brought back the death penalty, it's the only way to ensure they can't do it again.

How are they both charged with dangerous driving? Just because neither of them admitted to being behind the wheel at the time?
