Eastbourne girl hired to test supermarket's uniforms

As any mother will testify, children manage to put their clothes through the mill.

Grass stains, splodges of jam and ripped knees, the little monsters can find a hundred ways to turn their shiny new uniforms into rags in next to no time.

But now one Eastbourne pupil has been given the all-clear to get her uniform as mucky as she can.

Mary Nunn has become Sainsbury's youngest ever product tester after being appointed to the job of Extreme School Uniform Tester.

The five-year-old girl beat hundreds of kids to the job of putting the supermarket's range of trousers, skirts, shirts and tops through their paces.

Mary, from Eastbourne, won the job after supermarket bosses heard how she plays football, runs and is just as active as any of the boys in her school.

Mary's mum, Jill Nunn, said: "Mary always messes up her school uniform running round in the playground.

“She's full of life and energetic so she's perfect for the job of extreme school uniform tester. “As you can imagine she's very excited about her new role!"

Every item Mary wears over the course of an entire school term day will be taken away and tested by the supermarket's clothing experts to ensure that they are up to the job.
