PASSENGERS at Gatwick faced delays this morning after problems developed with the airport's baggage belts.
An airport spokeswoman said belts that were moving bags which had been checked in by departing passengers suffered problems "off and on" between 3am and 6am.
The problems came during one of the airport's busiest times of the year as thousands of people get away for their summer holidays.
Virgin and easyJet flights departed late because of delays getting bags on to planes at both the North and South terminals.
The belts are now working normally and airport asstaff are working as fast they can to clear the backlog.
