An oil company is planning to double production at the site it is drilling in Sussex.
Providence Resources currently produces 800 barrels of oil a day from the seven wells that it drills at its site Singleton, just a few miles north of the Goodwood racecourse near Chichester.
The company, owned by former Irish international rugby player Sir Tony O' Reilly, said it is shifting the location of an existing well as well as install a new drilling rig over the next few months.
This should increase production by an extra 350 barrels of oil a day.
