Tile falls from Worthing shop

Firefighters have cordoned off a section of a street after a tile fell from a shop roof.

The tile fell from the roof of the Phones4U mobile phone shop in Montague Street, Worthing at around 5.30pm last night.

Firefighters from Worthing have cordoned off a small section around the shop to protect passersby.

Next up: man eats bowl of cereal for breakfast. Honestly, Argus, is this what passes for news these days?

I saw a dog fall over on Lancing Green yesterday.

Can I be a journalist?

Tiles4U.
Security-word neck-lack. I'm sure that the words are chosen to fit the story by something similar to Google-ads.

I suspect this article will be a front runner for the Paul Foot journalism award - for the use of astounding investigative skills.

I saw a seagull mercilesly atack a bag containing remnants from a take-away meal on the street yesterday. For almost 20 minutes the gigantic bird pecked and thrashed at the cold contents of the flimsy plastic container, ignoring potential threats from local feline pets, (cats), finally extracting pieces of kebab, a Turkish delicacy, which it then secured in its beak before looking upwards and flying off to the safety of a nearby house roof where it eagerly ate its newly acquired repast.

I saw a pair of underpants fall off of a washing line last Monday. Is it too late to hold the front page?

A tile fell off my house in 1987. Is there a connection Argus? Is it newsworthy?

9 comments and no one has trotted out the usual 'advert alert' at the mention of a business' name in an article!!!

Excellent story though, hopefully there will be follow up to this when the missing tile is replaced (and the roofing contractor can get a mention/free advert)

****, why didn't they at least get some pictures to accompany this story? I suppose the scene of this apocalypse will just have to be left to our imaginations. I'm more interested in the kebab-eating gull story actually. Lamb or chicken???

Ha! Upon re-reading this story I think the most amusing thing about it is that it is such a non-friggin'-story that they felt compelled to mention TWICE how 'firefighters cordoned off a section of the street'... in a story that is only three sentences long! :D

Oh the pain! I'm sure Argus journalists do this on purpose to get people carping about it, just as we are now! I mean, they CAN'T be serious... right???

I have re-written this story for you:

Terror came to the streets of Worthing yesterday as passersby faced a potentially deadly airborne assault.

Fire-fighters were forced to establish cordons in Montague Street as debris rained down from the roof of the town’s Phones4U shop.

The incident began at 5.30pm when at least one tile plummeted from the roof, forcing fire-fighters into action.

Police were unable to confirm whether any suspects were currently being sought in connection to this incident, mainly because I didn’t call them.
