Anti-arms protesters plan "final push" on Brighton factory

Anti-arms protesters are planning a “final push” to close down a controversial factory.

Smash EDO is holding a mass demonstration against the EDO plant in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, in October.

After a high-profile court victory last month, the group says it is aiming to close it down for the day and eventually drive it out of the city for good.

Police have warned the acquittal of eight people who vandalised the factory last year should not send a message that the site is fair game for attacks.

The event raises the prospect of violent clashes like those seen at previous demonstrations, where protesters have tried to force their way into the grounds of the site in Home Farm Road, Brighton.
