Vandals smash Tesco Express window in Worthing

Police and firefighters were called out after vandals smashed the front window of Tesco Express in Teville Road, Worthing, in the early hours of this morning.

Thick, synthetic smoke - used as a means to deter burglars - filled the store after the window was broken.

No one was injured and no arrests were made.

While you are quite correct, Lunchtime, in this case what would the point be in arresting anyone? If the CPS agreed to prosecute (which is unlikely) the offender would get no more than a slapped wrist and a paltry fine. It's not the police at fault in this case, it's the system that does not hand out swingeing punishment to these morons. If it did less of them would think it was "fun" to indulge in such senseless vandalism.

thanks to a couple of bits of sterling board fitted this morning at 8 am the busted window now matches the one that was bust two weeks agon and has been boarded ever since

Synthetic smoke? Either it's smoke or it's not - regardless of how it's generated. Second time I've seen that on an Argus report - think before you put fingers to keyboard, please.

Agreed, disgusting company.
Tescopoly will never stop its relentless massacre of town centre shops, resulting in no choices for anyone, except that which Tesco chooses for us.
