Inside story on Albion's new stadium

It is the building site that has had Brighton and Hove Albion fans gripped since work first started.

As this new picture from inside the American Express Community Stadium shows, the stadium is edging closer and closer to what every Seagulls supporter has been waiting for.

Everyday the ground is coming closer and closer to the completion of a stadium they can be proud of and one they will soon be able to call home.

Official club photographer Paul Hazelwood, who has been cataloguing the development of the stadium every fortnight since taking on the role in December, has now taken this shot from inside the stadium.

He said: “It’s amazing how quickly the stadium develops every time I visit.

“There’s always work going on in every corner of the stadium, welding, fitting windows, doing steel work.”

The ground opens next season.

what a tremendous facility this is going to be for Brighton. Having left the area many years ago but still a follower of the Albion after all the years of being embarrassed about the stadium a city football team has had to play in we will soon have something to be proud of and it will bring much needed extra revenue into the area. I can see a few weekends in Brighton next year accompanied by family and friends

i am in much the same position, and having watched this facility 'growing up', cannot wait to see a few matches there. the club has not deserved to be treated the way it has, either by former directors or people trying to use every means possible to stop this stadium being built. whilst i understand that the goldstone ground was getting past its sell by date, i could never understand why it took so long to agree where the new stadium should go. even now, i still believe the best place would have been waterhall, but falmer is a very good second choice. it will just mean visiting fans changing trains in the main station. soon, all the nimbys near withdean can have their peace and quiet back, including the bloke who has spent all the time going to court to stop them playing there!

Ah - Mr CATT.

Interestingly he only bought his house overlooking the ground, AFTER the club were already playing there.

Its almost as though he chose to live there, just so he'd have something to moan about...

Who will actually OWN
the new stadium?
the land it stands on?
and if not BHA how much will they be paying to play there?

The envy of everyone in Division One (or THREE as it is known) and I am sure that it will bring the best out of every team that visits. Thus giving Gus a few more excuses I trust.

It's fantastic and arguably one of the most beautiful and spectacular buildings in Sussex.
.
I've said it before: in a hundred years time when it's coming towards the end of its life the descendants of the people who opposed it will be in the vanguard of its preservation society.

The club own the stadium. The Chairman forked out £93 million of his own money to pay for its construction.

Brighton & Hove City Council owned the brownfield site which had been earmarked for community development, the land was either given or sold to the club on the provision it built what it said it was going to build.

I thought the chairman had loaned the money for the construction, not given the money.
Can The Argus confirm some of the points made in the story?
I wish there were more sports facilities attached to the stadium, a missed opportunity really to replace the King Alfred facilities onto a modern, new, multi-functional sports arena.
