Animal welfare campaigners will march on Sussex

Animal welfare campaigners will protest outside the home of the largest landowner in Sussex.

Traffic chaos is expected this weekend when dozens of members of the National Anti Snaring Campaign march through Arundel.

They claim wild animals are being “cruelly snared” in the grounds of Arundel Castle, which sits in the South Downs National Park and has been the home of the Duke of Norfolk for more than 850 years.

But managers of the Norfolk Estate, who said they were disappointed the march was going ahead, said their population control methods were approved by Parliament.

Just because it is 'approved' doesn't mean it isn't cruel.

I was going to visit the castle in the next few weeks, so I wont be going now.
I don't mind shooting creatures quickly and cleanly, but snaring is cruel.
I shall not spend my cash at this venue.

Alot goes on a night when a gamekeeper can set traps and then remove them again by daylight.Thisn happens all the time on many estates

Why do predominantly town dwelling folk feel the need to criticize and gripe about every control method used by keepers and the like, when the management of the countryside has no impact on their lives.

As stated the Norfolk Estate only uses government approved methods, so instead of harranging this estate go and protest outside parliament.

This just makes for bad PR, I wish these people would understand the management of vermin and invasive species is necessary, and the people that carry it out are not evil or malicious, they are just doing a job, which can be sometimes unpalatable.
