Rock legend Jimi Hendrix did appear at Worthing's Pier Pavilion in 1967.
And he played the guitar with his teeth.
For years people in Worthing have speculated over whether he actually staged a concert at the seafront theatre.
There was no mention of the gig, either before or after, in newspapers, but many were adamant that The Jimi Hendrix Experience played Worthing.
Now, on the 40th anniversary of his death, Vicky Baker, who went to the gig, has come up with the proof in the form of an original flyer in near mint condition.
Not only that, but she has an historic collection of pamphlets recording visits to the Pier Pavilion and the Assembly Hall by Cream, The Who, Yardbirds, Cat Stevens, The Move, Geno Washington and Status Quo, to name but a few.
Vicky, of Poulters Lane, Worthing, said: "I have the original flyer for the concert, which cost six shillings - a bargain!
"My main memory of the night was that he played his guitar with his teeth."
Christopher Thorpe, of Burnham Road, Worthing, and Hazel Chessell, of Goring Road, Worthing were also at the gig.
