Traffic wardens star in Brighton artwork

To most people being issued with a parking fine is an annoyance they would rather not dwell on.

The photographs which accompanied the penalty charge notice are quickly forgotten after the fine is paid.

But artist Mocksim has taken a closer interest in the pictures taken by traffic wardens, collecting hundreds of them.

The photos he has collected include incidences of traffic wardens caught in the reflection of a car's windscreen, four instances of the artist himself being captured in their photographs, aesthetically pleasing night shots and detailed data about every picture, including information about shutter speed.

Mocksim has produced an exhibition called Contra-invention at the Friese-Greene Gallery, downstairs at Brighton Media Centre in Middle Street, Brighton.

The exhibition will run until November 14, with an artist's talk on November 12.

Firstly to correct the grammar and punctuation above, the first comment above should have read:

"So how is this art? It makes me laugh how many brain-washed morons will attend this steaming pile of cr@p?"

So "how is this comment a comment?", one might ask. My exhibition co-rater and I cannot complain though. There is much beauty in error. "Mistakes are the portals of discovery" said James Joyce. And so on.

A variety of people have attended so far. Not all of them were brain-washed morons. Some were though undoubtedly. If I had known in advance I might have asked them not to attend though I believe you are sugges...

Let's leave it there.

Mocksim, don't take it personally, there's always one (or more) of those so-called comments provider in every forum on the Net. Best leave it ignored, just don't feed the trolls (and don't quote James Joyce, for goodness sake, they won't know him if he's never played for Albion).

To my mind, your exhibition sounds like a good idea, although the description of "aesthetically pleasing night shots" in the article might not have thrilled you.
Best of luck with the show!

Completely understood thanks. Must not feed trolls but began to enjoy. I guess luck has already happened btw. Forward!
