A University of Sussex graduate has died after being struck by an underground train.

Yesterday tributes poured in for “awesome” Jaamit Durrani who studied English and developmental studies at the university between 2000 and 2003 before moving to work at internet companies in Brighton and Worthing.

Friends of Mr Durrani, who was killed instantly after being struck by a Central line tube at Tottenham Court Road station at 3.35pm on Thursday,remembered him as “a lovely man”.

Between November 2007 and January 2009 Mr Durrani, who is in his 20s, worked at Worth Digital Media in Middle Street, Brighton.

John Worth, who runs the company, remembered Mr Durrani as a “rising star” who was “ready to take on the world”.

A BTP spokeswoman said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
