After snow, ice and freezing conditions, potholes have again started to appear on Sussex roads.
Motorists once again face the problem of trying to avoid cracks and dips in the surface after another spate of plummeting temperatures.
Now drivers have been told to brace themselves for the worst ever pothole season.
Experts say early snow and poor repair work from last year's nightmare winter mean road surfaces will deteriorate “incredibly quickly” over the coming months.
Last year the pothole repair bill in the county totalled more than £15 million as authorities battled to repair at least 40,000 holes.
And yesterday road campaigners urged councils to get on top of the issue.
The Argus is compiling an online map of potholes in the county.
