THE time was long overdue for someone to improve the image of the taxman.
Taxmen are an easy target for our ire but, fortunately, there is now Bolton tax inspector Michael Allcock, pictured, to provide a human face and possibly make us change our minds.
The Doffcocker resident has become the mediafriendly face of HM Revenue and Customs and appears to be doing a great job.
He may have no sympathy for people who don’t pay their taxes, but he’s happy to provide genuinely useful advice and help for those prepared to.
The bottom line is that we all have to pay taxes so we may as well just pay up and smile.
And if someone like Michael can make it easier and less painful, then he’s welcome round my house for a cuppa anytime.
