A woman who admitted defrauding Cancer Research after falsely claiming she was dying of the disease escaped jail today.
Caroline Bull instead was told to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work after appearing at Hove Crown Court. Bull, 37, of Amo Mews, Worthing, was also sentenced after she admitted stealing £8,514.76 from her employer H & R Healthcare in sickness pay at an earlier hearing at Lewes Crown Court on 13 July.
Detective Constable Leon Ryan said: "People donated money in good faith, moved through compassion for a friend they believed was in pain and suffering.
“Bull's deception saw no end and she took full advantage of the trust and kindness of her friends and employer, even asking friends to have a tattoo 'in her memory'.”

she claimed depression, so what I know a number of people with mental health issues none of them stoop to con their friends and workmates by claiming to be dying. she was claiming cancer not mental health issues, she had sick leave for an extended time. get real and face facts she abused the trust of those around her including those who got a tattoo to remind them of her. 200 hours, she got off light and her demenor in a TV interveiw did nothing to to give the opinion that she seriously regreted her actions. like a drug dealer with a long history in worthing who this week was given a 2 year drug testing order for getting caught with a load of brown and white split ready to sell and £800 in cash, she has got off light, the system is balanced in favour of the criminal as long as you claim illness or "I was forced to do it but I cant tell you by who as they would kill me" (a good excuse when caught shop lifting in tesco at durrington, involving a foreign person adds to the flavour) BullS*** abounds
