A man was crushed by a car after it fell on his chest as he worked underneath.
The 22-year-old was tinkering with the suspension of the saloon when it slipped off the jack and landed on his chest.
Two friends working nearby were able to pull him free while an ambulance and doctors from South East Immediate Care scheme (SIMCAS) rushed to the scene at Kiln Farm, in Fowley Lane, High Hurstwood, near Uckfield.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, by ambulance and was put in intensive care.
By last night he was said to be recovering well with his life no longer in danger.
