Brighton nursery to open on Christmas Day

For nurses, police officers and firefighters, working on Christmas Day comes with the territory of working for the emergency services.

But you could not say the same for nursery workers.

A new childcare service will open on weekends, bank holidays and even December 25 in order to fit in with parents’ busy working lives.

Tiny Troopers childcare, based in Brangwyn Drive, Brighton, will be open from 7am to 6pm every day of the week.

Its owners Sarah and Philip Bentley say the move will mean that busy parents will be able to leave their children in a safe environment while they work.

For more information email tinytroopers@cheerful.com.

If it's aimed at emergency service workers, then they probably should have taken into account shifts.
Their opening hours of 7am - 6pm implies a 7:30am-5:30pm working day, not much good when working 7:45am until 8:00pm as a Nurse, or 7am until 4/5pm as Police.
Of course, if you've got someone working a 9-5 then it's fine, but there's not many of those on Christmas Day!

How about some REAL reporting Argus staff? Instead of an advertisement mocked up to look like news?

Hahahaha agreed.

Surely there are not many couples that both will work on Xmas day?

Unless parents want to offload their sprigs for a few hours.

I know work commitments are important, but more than your child, really? Just one day a year Christmas comes around, surely relatives/partner/cl
ose friends can help out.
Some parents might as well just give their child away, what with the lack of time they spend with them, but then they wouldn't get the child related benefits and a sense of smug satisfaction.

Christmas is a time for giving (not your children to the nursery though).

Well said, spot on.
Why have kids at all if you have to offload them all the time ?

This coment is for Frank-in-sense. Burgess hill 901 & tpe bo Belarus who all sound the same. To some christmas day is just another day and in religions to, they do not celebrate it. Many people in so many diferent positions have to work. Many business are open PUBLIC HOUSES; RESTAURANTE; HOTELS & many more. It is very good that some people has the insight to extend professional child care. The public I am sure will welcome this news so why make something good look bad. If people need extra care for the children they should not be judged in a negative way. These nursery workers should be comended for the hard work they will have to do.

I think this a brilliant idea! I used to work in a care home, when I was a single parent and would have to find childcare for my child which can be difficult especially if you have no family around to help out! People who have made comments about leaving children xmas day well some people HAVE to work so their children get a xmas! I wish tiny troppers lots of luck!

Don't bring religion into it, this is a country founded on Christian beliefs, that means while you do not have to celebrate Christmas, it would be gracious of people to treat the day as a holiday.

The problems are not just down to the parents, nearly every place of business used to close on a Sunday and holidays, but due to capitalist greed they trade all year at the expense of their poorly paid workers, whilst sending a message that it is a benefit (more choice, convenience, blah, blah).

If you genuinely need childcare on Christmas day, and have no family or friends that can help, I pity you.

I am little surprised at what you say as you were the person who first mention religion. I was just politely pointing the facts. It would be gracious for everyone to respect others beliefs. How can you say dont bring religion ito this. Religion takes paart is so much things these days. It get involved with politic, warfair and even if a child can get place in some schools it relies on the religion they are. The lady (lucylou) say she had to work on Christmas day. I am sorry I do not see your pity and think the new nursery show pity for people who need child care on 25 December. We should not judge others.
