Man assaulted in Brighton "over bag of crisps"

A man was kicked in the head over a bag of crisps, police believe.

He suffered a fractured cheekbone outside the Well Done shop in Pavilion Buildings, Castle Square, Brighton, at about 2.45am on Sunday.

Two shop staff were arrested after paramedics called police.

The men, aged 31 and 24, were held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The man was said to have been kicked while on the floor. He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.

The violence is believed to have flared over a claim that a bag of crisps was stolen from the shop.

Both suspects have been released on bail without charge until April 15.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.

Upon release the attackers were offered a lift home by a police officer, to which they replied - "no thanks, we're walkers"

I imagine we will be run through hula-hoops to get any sensible statements from the police.

The guy was probably coming back from a Disco at that time of night.

It's sad how we get enraged over trivial Nik-Naks

trouble started when the thief accused the shop owner of having a chip on his shoulder.

it makes you golden wonder how safe the streets of brighton really are. I guess the victim can thank his lucky wotsits that he was attacked by humans and not a couple of space raiders!

This was a serious a salt, not a celebration and I think so many jokes cheaply using brand names is in poor taste - You are, erm all teasers.
Castle Square used to be considered a quality street in Brighton now it is frequented by all sorts.

**** I have even been accused of stealing **** I just bought (from a **** small store no less) when I went back to buy something for my friend.

No one should be kicked in the head over such trivial ****, especialy when hes not even been proven to steal them......even still holding a guy down and kicking him in the head over a packet of crisps even if he did steal them, even a thief would hold more honour and dignity then the type of cowards these two are.

I see my original comment about the incorrect spelling of assault in the headline has been removed for some reason.
There was a time when you could be more or less certain that the spelling in a newspaper was correct - not any more apparently!
Ben, I am glad to see you have now corrected the spelling, perhaps you'll proof-read more thoroughly in future!

Enough of the real news, let's have some stories about Jordan (oh sorry, Katie Price) and her ex's Argus.

I'm shocked that a proper newsworthy item has made it into The Argus (akin to the Sunday Sport running a series on foreign investments and high finance).
