80 Royal wedding street parties planned in West Sussex

Sussex has some of the most patriotic neighbours in the country, according to new figures.

Statistics have revealed that West Sussex has the third highest number of planned street parties in the country for the Royal wedding on Friday April 29.

However, the figures - based on applications made to councils for road closures and public events licences - could be much higher as some events do not need any permission.

The news comes as Prime Minister David Cameron urged event organisers to “party on” regardless of red tape and bureaucracy.

The figures from the Local Government Association (LGA) show there are 80 planned events in West Sussex - behind only Kent and Hertfordshire.

Worthing and Adur councils alone said they had been notified of 31 Royal wedding street parties in their districts.

Dozens more parties will be held in Brighton and Hove and across East Sussex.

The public cannot legally stop vehicles entering or driving down a road unless a road closure is in place.

Yes indeed.
I plan to erect a guilliotine and execute all of the royal family and most of their hangers on.
Should be quiet a party.
