An Albion fan has cranked up the tension ahead of this weekend’s game with Southampton by offering to sell the South Coast rivals ten of Albion’s points.

The points have been put for auction on eBay by one cheeky fan and have so far attracted 18 bids.

Last night the top bid stood at £11.50.

Potential buyers are told that these are ten genuine Football League points gained by playing the best quality football in the First Division and come with a signed certificate of authenticity from Albion boss Gus Poyet.

Southampton and Crystal Palace are cryptically mentioned as clubs which might benefit as their promotion and survival bids are set to go right to the wire while Albion coast towards the end of the season with the league title already sewn up.

Darren McKay, who runs Albion supporters’ independent internet forum North Stand Chat, said: "Albion fans posting on North Stand Chat have responded with glee at the listing."

* The manager of Southampton, Nigel Adkins, has been made to eat his words after saying Albion would not win promotion unless they could keep up with his team.

Having already been named League One champions, Seagulls fans will be able to give their own view as Albion take on Saints on Saturday.

The Argus is giving away free posters in our goody bags at the game at Withdean Stadium.

The £1 goody bags include a copy of The Argus, a bottle of water, a snack and the poster which says: “We kept up. We’re going up as champions.”

Fans chanted “Are we keeping up, keeping up?” in reference to the infamous quote as Albion were crowned champions at Walsall on Saturday.

Following the team’s promotion Argus posters have been nabbed from A-boards around the city by delighted fans.

As a result we have decided to give fans the chance to own one of the historic posters for themselves at The Argus stand outside the South stand entrance.

On Saturday, fans will be able to buy limited edition replicas of the bills for £1 each, featuring the slogan ‘Seagulls: We are Champions’.

However, only 200 are available and it is first come first served at the game.

Seagulls supporters can also get their hands on one-off photos of Albion celebrating at Walsall and our classic promotion front page following the seven-goal thriller against Dagenham and Redbridge.

In the supplement we will also give you the answer to this poser: Which animal was spotted on a marauding run up the wing at the Withdean?

This talented creature took on the opposition defence in a pre-season friendly between Brighton and Hove Albion and Leicester City in 2003.

Don’t miss the souvenir special in next Saturday’s Argus.
