Teachers are to swap books for bytes to try to get children learning more.
Tideway School in Newhaven will get rid of books at its learning resource centre (LRC) and replace them with more computers.
The school's librarian has been made redundant and students will study set texts in class using E-readers.
Headteacher Rob Corbett said the move had been made after a review of the LRC.
He said: “We are changing the balance of books and technology.
“We have got a lot of book stock in there that goes virtually untouched, according to the records for our loans.
“In the reference section there are books you can wipe the dust off because they are not being used so it is a waste of resources and space.
“What the students really want for research purposes is access to good technology so that they can carry out research and learn how to research well.”
Mr Corbett confirmed that the school's librarian has been made redundant because her role “isn't needed any longer”.
But he said that students will still be able to access books.
He said: “Nothing is closing and we are not doing away with all books.
“It is just about using the books that will maximise learning."
