This image shows how an £18 million swimming pool will look.
Work has now begun on the new Aquarena complex in Worthing.
The new complex will replace the ageing pool which was built in the 1960s.
It will include a competition pool, café, an outdoor area and a health and fitness suite.
The main pool will also include a flexible floor, allowing the depth to be changed by as much as two metres.
Worthing Borough Council hopes the technology will mean the pool can host major competitions in water polo and other sports.
The pool is expected to open in the spring of 2013.

When will the reporting get past the Council propaganda?...It's not a 'competition pool', as it doesn't have enough lanes!...And far better pools have been built by other councils (or council tax payers!) around the country for far less money...another white elephant to be built with money we don't have!

Why does everyone moan when the council tries to build something that might well improve the area. Im sure they would have been more than happy selling off to a property tycoon who could build some flats. You would still be moaning if it only cost £18 to build, so the price is irrelevant really. The general public are so miserable sometimes.

AMAZING! I am sure this will lead to improved cleanliness and reduced Body odour smells from the residents of Worthing. I would leave it a month if you are from out of town for the Chlorine levels to drop a little. Initially it will have to be at the level of a public sewer.

I am only too aware of the affects of too much Chlorine in a Pool, used to counteract the Bacteria a and Urine which will come from the bodies of the Worthingites initially. You only have to look through the window of your MacDonalds to see the truth in his words.

Anyway -- not sure how this is in any instance "revealed", these pictures have been in the public domain now for at least over a year?
Either way this is a much needed improvement and nice to see something that is of a high quality even if it isn't pleasing absolutely everyone's needs.
