A gay choir is celebrating after signing a £1 million record deal with a major label.
Brighton and Hove Gay Men’s Chorus have signed to Universal Records joining the likes of U2, Grace Jones, PJ Harvey and Paul Weller.
They are the first gay chorus to join a major record label.
The 30-strong choir, which grew out of Brighton and Hove Actually Gay Men’s Chorus, said they will not record stereotypical gay anthems.
The group instead have recorded covers of Radiohead, David Bowie and Echo and the Bunnymen, as well as an original song, for their debut album due out in October.
The choir hopes to tour at the end of the year and will perform on the Live Stage at Pride on Saturday.
