Police chased a burglary suspect from Bognor to Worthing this morning.
Sussex Police stopped a Ford car in Mill Lane, Worthing, at about 9.30am.
They arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving.
Sussex Police said in a statement: "Police traced a car which had been reported stolen at around 7.20am this morning in the Bognor Regis area and followed it to Glenellg Close in the town.
"The car stopped in Glenellg Close and a 40-year-old woman from London, who was travelling in the vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
"The driver left the car before police arrived and stole another car which was followed by officers to Durrington Cemetery in Salvington.
"The driver ran from the car into nearby gardens on the northside of the A27 and stole a further vehicle in Uplands Avenue which was stopped a short time later in Mill Lane with assistance of members of the public."
Detectives this afternoon revealed they were linking the chase to a series of burglaries across the Arun and Worthing areas overnight. They include break-ins in West Way in Wick, Littlehampton, Goodacres in Barnham, South Way in Bognor, Central Avenue in Bognor, Roundwood in Worthing, Gravits Lane in Bognor Regis and Steele Crescent in Wick.
Anyone with information about any of the burglaries which may assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Sandman.
