Woodingdean's Frankie celebrates reaching live finals of X-Factor

X Factor star Frankie Cocozza celebrated getting through to the show’s live finals with “a few beers and a few tears”.

But the 18-year-old could not bear to watch himself on television so while his family and friends cheered for him at his home in Woodingdean, Brighton, he sneaked off to the garden for a cigarette.

Yesterday Frankie was moving into the X Factor house in London and rehearsing so was not able to chat but his stepfather Mick said the entire family were delighted with his progress.

Speaking exclusively to The Argus Mick said: “Frankie watched the X Factor at home with us, his mum Tina, his dad Frank, 14 friends, his brothers and sister and family.

“I was beaming and almost sobbing. But he does not like to watch himself so he went into the garden and had a fag.”

Terry Winstanley, 51, from Tarring in Worthing, did not get through to the live finals.

This is despite Brighton-born presenter Holly Willoughby leading a campaign for him.

Holly, who attended Burgess Hill School for Girls’, wrote on Twitter: “Bring back Terry!!!!”

Mr Winstanley said: “The whole thing has been brilliant.

“Maybe I am too old or too fat.

“There is no grudge. I’m pleased I entered and there are other things to do."
