Friends of tragic Kalan Fletcher appeal for hit and run driver to come forward

Friends of a man killed in a hit and run have pleaded for the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision to come forward.

Kalan Fletcher, from Keymer Road in Keymer, near Hassocks, was found dead by the side of the A273 London Road in Hassocks on Saturday.

Sussex Police are trying to trace 26-year-old illegal immigrant Imran Shaukat.

They want to speak to him in connection with the case.

Shaukat was last known to be living in Brougham Road, Worthing.

On Facebook a group has been created where Mr Fletcher’s friends have appealed for the driver of the van to approach police.

Joanna Murdoch said: “A friend of ours, Kalan Fletcher, was killed by a hit and run. He was only 23 years old, and he was left to die in the road where someone eventually found him, but sadly not in time.

“He was such a great guy and he will be missed hugely.”

After the incident Sussex Police traced a white transit van to an industrial estate in Worthing.

Sussex Police released a picture of Shaukat and asked for him to get in touch.
