Strikes to cause delays at Gatwick
8:05am Wednesday 30th November 2011 in News
Air passengers are being warned to expect disruption eight hours into a strike by immigration officers.
UK Border Agency staff at Gatwick started their strike at midnight and the 29,000 passengers expected to pass through its doors today are being advised to be prepared for “significant delays” at immigration.
Several flights have already been cancelled.
Scott Stanley, the airport’s chief operating officer said: “The strike action by UK Border Agency staff will regrettably present frustrations for arriving passengers required to pass through border agency checks today.”
He said contingency plans were in place and that biometric passport checks would help ease queues.
