GP denies dealing drugs

A GP has denied dealing cocaine.

Dr Babak Shokouhi, a partner at the Mayflower Surgery at Durrington Health Centre, Worthing, is accused of offering to supply the class A drug to two women in January, and of possessing the drug in February.

Shokouhi, 44, of Hurston Close, Worthing, denied the charges at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on December 2.

He was released on bail until a hearing at the same court on January 27, when the case will be committed to Crown Court.

A spokeswoman for NHS West Sussex confirmed he has been suspended by the General Medical Council while the legal proceedings take place.
