A chain of pub eateries scored a hat-trick with three entries in a prestigious guide.

The Gingerman group’s Sussex venues have been highlighted in the Michelin Eating Out In Pubs guide for 2012.

They were among 20 pubs in Sussex which got an entry in the guide.

The Ginger Pig in Hove Street, Hove, The Ginger Dog in College Place, Kemp Town, and The Ginger Fox in Albourne, near Henfield, all won praise from inspectors.

Food at The Ginger Pig was described as “precisely prepared, flavoursome British dishes”, while cooking at The Ginger Fox was “skilful, with a real country flavour”.

The Ginger Dog was noted for “a welcoming atmosphere and relaxed feel”.

Ben McKellar, who runs the Gingerman group with his wife Pamela, said: “We are very pleased to be so represented.

“The Michelin guide is obviously very highly regarded generally within the restaurant and pub food community.

“The Fox and the Pig have been in before but it is the first year that the Ginger Dog has been involved.”

How much does it cost to get an entry in the guideI find it hard to beleive that inspectors go to every pub that sells food and judges it woould tke them 6mths just to cover Brighton and Hove

Personally I dont know who the judges are but Ive eaten far better food at other establishments in Brighton. Having eaten at both the ginger dog and ginger pig I wouldnt rate them that highly and would say the food is actually overpriced for what it is.

Although that is just my opinion Im sure others love the food.

For an excellent meal try The Lamb in Piltdown. This pub was previously known as The Piltdown Man. I had a meal there a few years ago and it was terrible. The pub closed for a few months and has reopened under new ownership. Now it serves good food with good service. It is a pleasure to go there.

I've only been to the Ginger Dog and would not go again because it was precisely the opposite to the description here.

Ive eaten in the Ginger Pig before and thought it was terrible. The service was appalling (apart from one really friendly scottish waitress) and the food was even worse, definitely the worst meal ive had in Brighton in the last couple of years

I've eaten at the Ginger Pig and the food was quite disappointing. Quite average for the price.

Definitely does not live up to it's hype.

Booked a table once at the Ginger Pig. I then needed to change the time and the person was so rude that in the end I just didn't turn up and went somewhere else instead - somewhere that actually wanted my custom.

Ginger fox is OK. My sweet order arrived on a roofing slate though, I don't know why that has become popular, masterchef I suppose.
