Artist and disability campaigner Alison Lapper is to officially open a new boardwalk.
She will be joined by a Johnny Depp lookalike dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow and a disabled Santa Claus for the event on Shoreham Beach.
The boardwalk, made from recycled plastic, runs from Ferry Road to Shingle Road and has been designed to offer safe and easy access to the beach for everyone, particularly wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility.
The opening will take place on December 27 immediately after a festive beach clean organised by the Friends of Shoreham Beach from 10.30am-noon.
Friends chairwoman Joy Daintree said: “It’s taken two years but we now have a facility that will enable people who were previously denied access to enjoy our beautiful beach.
“It’s a tremendous achievement that will enhance the lives of many people who are often denied the simple pleasures most of us take for granted.”
