Campaigner concerned at Shoreham sheep removal

A campaigner is concerned by the removal of Shoreham's famous green sheep.

The woolly sculptures on a roundabout had been penned in by council bosses after they confused motorists who thought they were real.

Workmen removed the famous flock, which had been given festive hats by Paul Richards.

Sue Elliott, from Upper Beeding, said: “As the founder of the Green Ewes Liberation Society, I note with great concern that said ewes, after having been so cruelly fenced in, thus preventing them from grazing, have now been removed entirely.

“Where are they now? Have they access to grazing and adequate shelter? Have they suffered unnecessary stress by being moved?

“We demand to know what has happened to these examples of one of the rarest breeds of sheep in the world, and seek assurance that they are well and stress-free, and ask when they will be returned to their former home.”

West Sussex County Council confirmed that the plastic sculptures had been taken “on a Christmas break”.

They were being stored in a secret location and would be back on the roundabout in the New Year, a spokeswoman said.

I don't like to gossip but I heard that the sheep had been breast feeding in a Brighton cafe recently and received so many complants about exposure that they were captured and taken to Guantanemo Bay (or however you spell it). I reported the matter to the lovely Caroline Lucas but she wasn't interested as the sheep hadn't protested against Top Shop.

Dear Rolivan You have broken the "Never say anthing disparaging about Caroline Lucas Act 2011". People like FercriSakes etc will vilify you relentlessly on here. You must write out 1,000 times ' I love Caroline Lucas and all she does, just like the other Greens on here do'. Then you may just redeem yourself.
