Council officers were bemused after receiving an unusual request about sub atomic particle theory.
The Freedom of Information (FOI) query was sent to Wealden District Council by Loxy Hammond asking what it proposed to do about Heisenberg's principle of uncertainty.
The message to the council said: “Dear Sir or Madam, Please can you tell me how the council manages to cope with the vagueries (sic) of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle? How does it still function given all the inherent unpredictability? Regards Loxy Hammond.”
Officers who received the request were left scratching their heads when they were asked about physicist Werner Heisenberg's theory.
The council responded by referring the author of the request to the Corporate Plan - the council's highest level strategic document.
A council spokesman said it had received 364 FOI requests this year but this one had been the most unusual.
