A website has been set up where people affected by a polar bear mauling last summer can share their experiences.

Andy Ruck, 27, from Saltdean, was one of the people injured in the incident in Svalbard in Norway on August 5.

Mr Ruck, whose parents Jan and Dick live in Chichester Drive East, suffered serious head injuries in the incident.

The bear killed 17-year-old Eton pupil Horatio Chapple.

High Court judge Sir David Steel is leading the independent inquiry into how the tragedy – on an expedition planned by the British Schools Exploring Society (BSES) – occurred.

A website – where people can contact him directly – has now been created.

It is hoped he will publish his findings shortly.

Sir David will work independently of BSES and with the Wiltshire Coroner, who is investigating the death of the 17-year-old.

His report will focus on the events leading up to the attack, including how the expedition was planned and run and how the emergency services responded to the incident.

He is interviewing witnesses and co-operating with the Norwegian authorities who are running their own investigation into what happened.
